DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGY – Cell Biologist/Immunologist with specialty in Bioinformatics (ref. #FAC08-009)
Tenure-Track Assistant Professor

The Department of Biology, Marine Biology and Environmental Science invites applications for a tenure-track position in Cell Biology/Immunology with a specialty in Bioinformatics.

Primary responsibilities include teaching introductory biology courses, genetics, the non-science majors’ core science course, and upper level courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. The successful candidate is expected to establish and maintain an active research program using a cell culture, not an animal model system. In general, all tenure-track RWU faculty must demonstrate effectiveness in the following four categories: 1) teaching; 2) academic advising and program development; 3) professional/scholarly activities; and 4) institutional and/or community service.

Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in cell biology/immunology coupled with experience in bioinformatics for studying comparative genomics, gene expression or protein-protein interactions is required. The ideal candidate will have an academic background centered in cell biology/immunology, and the ability to apply bioinformatics to her/his area of expertise. Evidence of successful teaching experience along with post-doctoral research is preferred. Candidates must also present evidence of an on-going program of scholarly activity.
