Job Description: RTI International is seeking a Senior Bioinformatics Cancer Researcher with experience performing informatics and software product and program management to work with the National Cancer Institutes Center for Biomedical Informatics and Information Technology (NCI CBIIT).
Researchers should possess a combination of biomedical, informatics, and management experience to perform the tasks and to communicate effectively with internal teams and external user and customer communities.
In addition to products developed at CBIIT, selected cancer Biomedical Informatics Grid (caBIG) bioinformatics programs and projects may be assigned in order to ensure development of standards compliant and interoperable informatics solutions that meet end user needs.

Qualifications: • PhD in an engineering or scientific discipline, with a minimum of five years of professional experience after completion of all education.
• Demonstrated ability of taking large-scale scientific software projects from inception through delivery in the biomedical informatics and information technology industry.
• Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration with customers to ensure sustained alignment between scientific and informatics leadership; ability to align diverse groups, facilitating communication and decision-making
• Strong communication skills coupled with excellent presentation, public speaking, and business writing skills; experience in developing and delivering effective presentations to large organizations and customer settings
• Demonstrated skills in areas of leadership, teamwork, relationship management, problem analysis/resolution, consensus-building and technical project management; ability to effectively direct multiple initiatives in a high-energy environment
• Familiarity with contemporary software development methodologies and architectures, including unified process, agile development, service-oriented architecture, and model-driven architecture.
• Experience with UML modeling and requirements analysis, preferably in biomedical domains.
• Experience working with geographically dispersed personnel using virtual meetings and teleconferences is required.
