Job Description: Critical Outcome Technologies Inc. (COTI) is located in Ontario’s medical research and discovery heartland in London, Ontario. COTI has developed a unique, powerful computational process called CHEMSAS® for the accelerated discovery, optimization and pre-clinical development of targeted libraries of disease-specific drugs. Using CHEMSAS ®, COTI is able rapidly identify, profile and optimize small molecules that have the potential to be effective in the treatment of human diseases. COTI is focussed on identifying potential treatments for diseases that currently have no effective therapy. Our vision is to be instrumental in saving thousands of lives by enabling accelerated development of new treatment options To be included in a library a molecule must achieve an exceptional score after detailed analysis of effectiveness, toxicity, and the ADME properties; absorption, distribution, metabolism (e.g. cytochrome P450 interactions) and excretion. CHEMSAS® also profiles each compound for solubility and drug-like properties. COTI presently has libraries in development for small cell lung cancer, multiple sclerosis, HIV integrase, colorectal cancer and acute adult leukemia. Using CHEMSAS®, COTI is able to discover, profile, optimize, synthesize and validate novel compounds in ~12-15 months. The current industry drug discovery approach can take up to 60 months. COTI presently has an opportunity for a Senior Scientist who can, in time, assume the day-to-day responsibility for the development of new predictive modelling systems, molecular profiling and selection of drug candidates in addition to the identification of new high potential project for COTI and its partners. This position will appeal to a recent graduate from a PhD program in molecular biology, pharmacology or medicinal chemistry who is intellectually flexible, willing to challenge more traditional methods and work at the next frontier of drug discovery. This challenging position will require a person with a deep and current knowledge of the principles of molecular pharmacology and drug discovery coupled with an understanding of computerized statistical modelling processes. COTI is located in London, Ontario, a centre of excellence in South-Western Ontario’s medical system. COTI offers competitive compensation, relocation and in service training opportunities. If this opportunity appeals to you and you would like to explore the possibility of working with COTI, please contact Blake Bexon, bbexon@criticaloutcome.com. COTI respond to all applications that we receive.
